Why Are They Getting Extinct?

Humans are a threat to turtles. Our daily fishing can cause the turtles extinction. Turtles that swam in the oceans get caught in nets laid by fishermen. Not only that, the boat, our transportation across the ocean, causes death to turtles. Recently, three turtles, a leatherback and two loggerheads, was found washed ashore, dead. Two of them was caused by boat propellors whilst the female was unknown.Photograph by Doug Perrine/Innerspace Visions

Not only that, people all around the globe eat turtles, what's more, the turtle's shell can be made into a unique decorative item. Some people pay a lot of money for sea turtle parts and products such as stuffed turtles, turtle eggs, turtle-shell jewelry, turtle steaks, suntan lotion made with turtle oil, and even turtle shell guitars.Photograph by Jeffrey Rich Nature Photography

Aquaria KLCC held a program of turtle adoption with an aim to conserve the last seven out of thirty species of turtles and terrapins and to educate the public on turtle and terrapins biology.

Not only Aquaria KLCC, but majority of kind-hearted people has helped with the survival of the turtles in Malaysia. They spread news of turtles' extinction in newspapers and flyers. So let's do our part and save the turtles!
